Dhamar Governorate lies in the central part of the Yemeni plateau, known for its moderate summers and cold winters, which has enriched its agricultural produce. The region was an essential part of the Himyarite kingdom, leaving behind many ribbed wells, palaces and fortresses. It enjoys a unique volcanic nature: lava fields form a large part of its geography, endowing it with fertile soil and warm mineral springs used for therapy and leisure. The vast Jahran plain is the main agricultural artery, while terraced villages such as Wusab and Utmah spread at the edges, showing Yemeni mastery in mountain farming. Today Dhamar remains a symbol of antiquity and fertility in Yemen.
